Sunshine Mixed with a Little Yarn/Sunday Sampler

It was a very damp, dreary, cold Easter Sunday…..outside.

But in my home we had a bit of sunshine on my table.

File_000 (14) (2)Potted hyacinths and jelly beans courtesy of my daughters. Never fear, there are more jelly beans in the cabinet. Can’t spoil our dinner 😉

Family around the table brought us more warmth. I’m so glad they tolerate cameras.

And for the ‘yarn’ part in the title, we have 4 more yo yo’s down …

Half-Light

It’s Good Friday, I have the day off, and the theme for the Weekly Photo Challenge is Half-Light. With time on my hands I get out the ol’ banjo and pick this tune:

“I Saw The Light”
I wandered so aimless life filled with sin
I wouldn’t let my dear saviour in
Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

I saw the light I saw the light
No more darkness no more night
Now I’m so happy no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord I saw the light.

Didn’t want my whole self photographed, but so you know it’s really me…

John 1:5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Blessings to you this Easter weekend.

Theme Reveal/ A to Z April Blog Challenge 2016

rice gpa

Grandpa Hunter, Great Grandpa that is, was a rice patty farmer in Texas in this photo. He drove a team of 20 mules and I feel pride in the trait he passed down to his future generations. The trait of using your hands in farming was detrimental to survival. In a similar way, using my hands could be considered detrimental to my survival after a days work. I usually spend 11 hours a day, Monday thru Friday caring for 10 children ages newborn to 5 years. Being creative has been my way to relax and unwind when the day is behind me.

For my participation in the A to Z Challenge this year, I’m stepping away from the musical aspect of the last 2 years for a change. I have decided to blog about projects from the past and present. Some finished long ago and others are works in progress. I hope you’ll enjoy my “Creativity” theme and maybe you’ll be inspired to Make It Yourself.

Dark Circles/ Sunday Sampler

Just playing around with an idea. I took this idea from Pinterest and went a different direction with it. And, These are officially and specifically for my Mother-in-law. She’ll be using them for her coffee mugs or maybe as candle mats.

On Etsy, I’ve added a set with a Tuscan theme.

Letting you in on a little inside info:

*They can serve as a mug rug for your morning cup of coffee or hot tea.
*Also use them for applique on your craft creations.
*Add a to a gift decoration.
*Combine them on your wall for a set of medallions wall art display.
*Sew them together for a larger trivet.

Embellishment ideas:

Pillows, pillow cases, hats, hand bags, t-shirts, sweaters, quilts and blankets, scrapbook pages, hand-made greeting cards and so much more. Create ear rings, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, hair clips or gift tags.

Thanks for stopping by for my Sunday Sampler.

Sickly Weekend/ Sunday Sampler

File_000 (7)

A sickly weekend drove me to looking around in my stuff I hadn’t yet unpacked in my new sewing room. There was a pleasant surprise. An old gift from my girls. We’re talking about 14 years or so old. Not yet an antique 🙂 A sewing journal.

Now you’ll have to wait for the contents. I’m saving some of it for the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge 2016….my 3rd year of participation. So as I’m a day late in my ‘Sunday Sampler’ post, I hope your weekend was wonderful and illness free.

The Midland/ WordPress Photo Challenge

Harmony

“The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords having a pleasing effect; the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole.”

This weekend was harmonious for my little family.

We took time to attend a concert at The Midland Theatre in Kansas City.

Talk about a gorgeous venue. Shame on me for not bringing my camera

with the memory card.

The first act could be the reincarnation of ‘The Everly Brothers’. They even did one of their songs. They told us to tag them on Twitter which I intend to do. We’ll see if they respond 😉

Kacey Musgraves is a favorite of our family. She’s a little spitfire from Texas. Love her music. Did a post awhile back with a Smilebox and some of her music. Her lyrics ring of much truth.

A harmonious evening and I even have a little stockpile of photos for future challenges now. Score!
