Future pattern for sale in the works.
We’ve had our driveway blocked for about 2 months. January 8th to be precise; the water main broke sending a river down the road. With no warning, the cavalry arrived to patch it up on Wednesday.
Another road taken down the Katy Trail with one of my daughters and husband. At least I didn’t receive bunny ears (eyes rolling).
Some more of our walk on the scenic Katy Trail.
Another Road Taken with my neice to my favorite section of any store – The Fabric Section! Let me just say this is a gigantic step for the next generation. Fabric purchasing and selection is an unknown territory for many of them. I’m beaming here if you can’t tell!
And guess what?! She sews! Zach you have a good catch…. but I’m sure you know that 🙂
Back to the subject at hand.
Our 3-generation project has begun. Above are the fabric choices she made, the blocks that she and my mother cut out, and the sample arrangement suggestions I sent to her via cell phone. We’re making a special something to use in her July 1 wedding. Can’t tell you what we’re using this for yet, but I can tell you she chose view #2. I am in total agreement.
Have a Wonderful Rest of Your Sunday!!
I opened my FaceBook messenger one morning to see a picture and a little request for the item below.
But I don’t think it was in the right color. So still creating some. Unfortunately they are in a pile next to the sewing machine. Time has not been a friend the last couple weeks. But I did a test run on the one above as you can see and it passed my scrutiny as well as the family’s. I even created a little ‘love’ for my grad student daughter.
As time permits, more will be made. Until then I’ll leave you with a little list of uses for this newfound creation.
Have a wonderful Sunday!!
In the spotlight this Sunday is my one and only…..
He drew my name in our family gift exchange and a little bird apparently told him I needed to go shopping. And shopping I did!
Just lookie at what I came up with Aaron!
Taking time this Sunday Sampler to say Thank You for your help in resuscitating my fabric and yarn stash. #NeverEnoughSuppliesInTheSewingRoom
This delectible gelato has absolutely nothing to do with hand made items.
Except it was my reward for spending this weekend using up some cotton yarn.
After I ran out of chocolate.
Not everyone can say they have a sister named Barbie. I can and she definitely scored on Christmas Day with being the “Hostess Superlative” for our family get-together.
But the Sunday Sampler ‘Barbie Score’ has another twist.
This gem came in the mail from the hubster! Let me explain to you how rare it is lately to find Ken doll clothes patterns. Barbie rules the roost without a doubt. My dilemma is compounded in a daycare with 1 girl versus 7 boys. When it’s time for my Miss Emmi to play with the dolls, the boys are surprisingly eager to join along, provided there are male counterparts. And there are only so many clothes for those ‘Ken’ dolls. Mainly just shorts. And the boys are a bit indignant on this subject. So part of my time off for Christmas break is preparing to make some of these poor neglected AquaMen/Spidermen/Kenmen their own line of clothing. Wish me luck!
Happy New Year Everyone!!
Everything was decided. We only had to add a flower to this one and the other one in blue.
My sister would have her two matching hats for her surprise gift. And in time for Christmas.
But then I had to dive into the yarn stash……and decided to experiment a little.
Now there are 2 versions. This one uses thicker yarn (Medium weight) and the first lighter weight and, to me, is more Springy. So the dilemma is now hers. Which one would be the better gift for Christmas?? As for me, I’m now working on those flowers.
My 9.00 MM.
I’ve done quite a bit of damage this past week with this lil’ Gat.
Other “Pet Names” can include:
The retired law enforcement hubster could give me more names, but we’ll keep this list small for starts. I may end up on a list with the NSA, CIA, FBI or who knows??
Around here though,
Keeping it clean with crocheted washcloths.
Uses for a Hand Crocheted Dishcloth don’t stop with the dishes.
- Nubbies are great for scrubbing your countertops
- Soft texture is nice for baby’s bathtime (or Mom’s)
- Keep them handy for a quick trivet when the bowls are too hot for your table.
- Dust and toss in the wash.
- Teether towel. Just dampen with cold water and serve to sooth those tender gums.
- Add to gift baskets this season with other kitchen or bath items.
Eco friendly and durable, these will last for many years with proper care.
Hope you enjoyed today’s shot of the Sunday Sampler
Today I bring you…..
The short ones for keepin the wind from getting inside your coat:
This one has a little twist:
Then there’s a bit more lacework to some.
But the newest trend for the season is in the versatility.
From my favorite author John Steinbeck:
“What good is the warmth of summer
without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
Have a wonderful week everyone!
Sunflowers are historically know for being happy flowers. So a little sun on your shoulders is just the thing to send cheer someone’s way. Which is the inspiration for my latest item on Katy Trail Creations on Etsy.
And then of course it helps that my daughter is enjoying these beauties in person in the Sunflower State.
See you next time on The Sunday Sampler
