Collage

JulyFabricCollage

Shopping on eBay gave me an opportunity to share in the Weekly Photo Challenge on this Sunday afternoon. Some lovely fabrics that you can’t find in the stores around here are my display in collage style. I’ve been lucky to find this very reputable seller who has somehow acquired many beautiful fabrics. Now to sort fabrics into color schemes———-a collage for another day.

Quilt in Light and Dark/#AtoZChallenge

During the month of April, I’m participating in the Blogging From A to Z Challenge for my 4th year in a row – 3 of which are on this blog. Each day, except Sundays, there will be a post for the letter of the day as well as keeping with my personal theme of Quilts and Quotes. Feel free to leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you! Also check out the other A to Z’ers in the comment section of the Official A to Z Blog Page.

The light and dark of a quilt are to give contrast. It can give such dramatic appearances.

  • You can use light thread on a dark fabric as well to change the effect. 0fc4bf0e37ae92e1d828b1b085ac7c58
  • The light and dark can also give a 3-D illusion as in the Tumbling Blocks quilts.d4804c2736ebc58bc6f122733f0aed15
  • A wave quilt is another take on dimension.4750e8b991bd3b895363120d4682b066
  • And last but not least are the photo quilts where pieces are combined to reproduce a picture, face, or scenery in a realistic fashion.00a43551dd1f574b067562252646eb90

And this my friends is why quilters, sewists and other fibre-creative persons have a ‘stash’ of supplies. You never know when a certain color will come in handy.

Can I get an Amen?

(thanks to Pinterest for the above examples)

and now for my “Q” quilt block for the Challenge…..

For one block, this one works up very quickly. It could double as an X quilt block, but the quilt book author didn’t see it that way.

“Quilt in Light and Dark” is not the fanciest name for a quilt block, but for the sake of this Letter Q, I’m thankful the author had this one single suggestion in her book for Q.

Nephew!!

He drew my name in our family gift exchange and a little bird apparently told him I needed to go shopping. And shopping I did!

Fabric Bonanza

Been doing some deep cleaning lately. Got a bag of fabric about a year ago from an auction and had it in my utility room waiting for a good wash. Spent the last couple days getting that accomplished.  Here’s the before in a vacume sealed bag……

All for $1!

There was also a tiny bottle of Jack Black hidden in a little crocheted bag. This lady who had collected these gems was deceased and the family was having the auction. I love that she had the stash of fabric but I love it even more that she had her little secret bottle hidden away. And no, I don’t have a secret bottle just fyi. 😉
